Susan's Music Talk: Random Thoughts

I woke up Sunday morning with Jon Bon Jovi's Blaze of Glory stuck as a hummer in my head. Definitely time to crank up the tunes again, even though I had the XM blaring out of my trusty 'puter for a few hours on Saturday. Never turned on Bon Jovi, though. Where'd it come from?

Speaking of XM, I'm learning about a few new bands, but not nearly enough. A few that warrant more exploration would be Revis, Mercy Falls, ditchwater, Flyleaf, and Thornley.

So far, Flyleaf's caught my attention the hardest, in terms of them maybe being a band I'll love as much as I love my Metallica or Disturbed. But we shall see... there's always room for more music, particularly the good stuff. I'm open to it, so come show me what you've got.

Comments:
I was a big Bon Jovi fan in the 80s. Jon looks better than ever but his music is not what I care for anymore. I will have to check out Flyleaf. I enjoy Metallica and Disturbed so that warrants me looking into this band. ;)

I haven't heard that song in awhile, thanks for putting it in my head. :-)

Hey, scoop, you're welcome to it if it'll stay out of my brain! I was a big Bon Jovi fan back in the Slippery Days, too, but I outgrew them ... pretty much the day I found Metallica. I still think Bon Jovi writes good tunes, though.

Flyleaf, Cheesy, has a WOMAN singer, and her voice is COOL. Let me know what you think; you can hear them on their website.

And I've got "Who Says You Can't Go Home" in my head. Who is this Jovi guy and why is he in all our heads?

Funny, I never really was a big Jovi fan until I moved out here. Now I appreciate him (and Springsteen) a bit more. What can I say - a couple local boys make it big.

I've been slowly (ok very quickly) falling in love with my XM radio too. I'm guessing you're listening to Squizz if you're hearing Thornley? Ian Thornely is from Toronto! If you like that, you might like his old band: Big Wreck (though I like his newer stuff better). Try some more Canadian content: Finger Eleven and Three Days Grace!

I like what I've heard thus far of 3 Days Grace and Finger 11; what's with this trend to put a number in your band name, though?

Yes, I'm loving Squizz. Liquid Metal (playing right now, in fact), Boneyard, Lucy, and Flight 26 would be my top five. Possibly in that order, in fact...

You have good music tastes!
Thornley is my fav band!
Saw them live twice! Best memories!

If you want to know more info about them, here's a forum that me and another HUGE Thornley fan created :

Upcoming shows, show reviews, pics, art fan, projects, interviews, etc.
We try to do our best to put as much as info on there!
Hope to see you there!
