Thursday Thirteen #29 -- What's in Daniel and Val's kitchen?

In keeping with the theme I began two weeks ago, when we looked at Mitchell and Kerri's kitchen and its contents, this week, let's take a look at Daniel and Val's kitchen. For those of you too lazy to follow the links, Daniel is ShapeShifter's drummer and Val, his long-time girlfriend who trained as a chef but quit the restaurant business when it got too much.

Look for a new outtake featuring Daniel, Val, and their kitchen over the weekend. And for you meme lovers, another one I'll let the band answer.

Thirteen mostly food-type things in Daniel and Val's kitchen

1. A sourdough starter

2. a windowsill herb garden (that overflows onto the patio, in ever-expanding pots)

3. A wide variety of teas

4. Phone numbers for three butchers

5. ten kinds of chocolate and/or cocoa, not counting hidden candy bars

6. A variety of wines, ports, and other highbrow alcoholic delicacies that you wouldn't expect a rock star to know a thing about. Mostly, he doesn't. Val, however, does. She's not a rock star, so your expectation here was met perfectly.

7. Locally produced clover honey

8. chick peas, tahini, lemons (for juicing), and garlic

9. Phone numbers and schedules for the local CSA

10. Ping's Soy Sauce. Lots of it.

11. Bodacious Sauce. Not quite as much of it.

12. organic cranberry granola bars (Daniel's favorites. Eric's too, come to think about it)

13. One of those undercounter TVs that's hooked up to the cable in case Daniel starts to go through CNN withdrawal.

And because the voting's not closed yet...
And if you've missed it somehow, Just a reminder... go vote for me!

Comments:
those are all very cool things!!! Nice list...

Sounds eerily like my kitchen, except for the TV!

3 butchers? Why 3?
And what exactly is in that herb window box ;)

Three because they specialize in different sorts of meat. And because three is better than one.

Dew, ten kinds of chocolate?? Really? I'm on my way over!

Can I have a kitchen like that too?!?!? :) Happy TT!

A very organic and healthy kitchen. I have some of those myself. Although the healthy stuff in my kitchen gets cancelled out by the chips, beer and cheese. Everyone needs some junk in their life :)

I'd hate for someone to take a look at what's in my kitchen. It's not that interesting.

Love it Susan. :)

Gosh!
I managed to enter here somehow (I'm confused too) so I'll try to open some old posts and save them for reading with morning mug of coffee :)
Hugs

Mmmmm, I can go for those organic cranberry granola bars! :-)

Happy TT!

I think we have like three bottles of soy sauce in our kitchen, lol.

I was worried there was going to be bean dip. Who had the bean dip, I can't remember ... all I remember is the fart.

Happy TT my friend!!

That Erica chick in Portland had the bean dip. Lovely stuff, no? (and good memory!)

Someone's making Hummus?? I love both that and Baba Ganouj!!!

Mama Kelly

Ten kinds of chocolate! I suppose they're all required ingredients in those brownies you keep teasing us about? Unless even Val isn’t privy to the recipe… :-)

between you and Daisy - i'm staying hungry all the time!

I live for hidden chocolate in the kitchen. Great list.

Thanks for stopping by my TT- so glad to hear that you're doing your part to ensure a sustainable future.

Have a great weekend! XINE

My dream kitchen has lots of counter space and drawers. I bet their kitchen has both. :P

mmmm....local honey. I love buying it local, and organic. Its so divine

I think I want their kitchen. Mine is no where near as interesting!

My kitchen has a million kinds of teas and chocolates too. Nice list! Happy TT!

Remember May is National Miltary Appreciation Month!

Sigh, I wish I could grow a herb garden! My last attempt was simply too straggly. Happy TT!

Hidden candy bars? I don't know what you're talking about! Your character descriptions entice me to start playing with ideas again.

Glad my kitchen won't be under inspection - you might not even reach number 13. I'm a shameless take-out wench. LOL!

Except for the alcohol I'd say it could be my kitchen. :-)
Thanks for visiting my detective TT!

I guess these rockers don't do pizza and chinese takeout.

wanted to say thanx for visiting my in the last couple of weeks while my cranky computer was preventing me from doing much visiting in return. my visitors from the last two TT are at the top of my list for visiting this week.

in an attempt to alleviate a nasty mood invoked by our library levy failing Tuesday night, my TT this week is a joke.

happy TT

I admire how you always come up with so many interesting little details. I couldn't say a thing about one of my characters' kitchen inventory. LOL
Plus, this kitchen sounds like I would love to move right in there. ;o)

Sounds good to me...especially the hidden chocolate stash...(sorry, that's my hidden chocolate stash I was referring to.)

I wish that was my kitchen! I need to try to make hummus. I always buy it.

Happy TT.

Im coming to your house for dinner:)

TEN kinds of chocolate? Can I move in with them? ;)

Love the sourdough starter! And the phone number for three butchers (you'd never find that in my kitchen.)

I love sourdough bread and used to keep starter all the time. I should totally start doing that again. You have inspired me :)

God, now I'm embarrassed by what's in my kitchen. It's kid- and farmer-friendly. :D

phone numbers for three butchers...hmmm...I'm scared!

I like the sound of your kitchen - mine is the dieters one at the moment I need to shed 30 lbs....

Hmm... these sound interesting. But too bad I don't cook... My kitchen only has a fridge and a microwave.

Neat. At times, you may find sour dough starter in my kitchen, but not now.

10 kinds of chocolate? I might come up with 4, but no more!Well, maybe 5.

Check out my TT.

Hi,
I found your blog because you mention dealing with IBS. I work with a marketing agency that's working with Procter & Gamble to find influential bloggers like you to try Align, a new probiotic supplement for people suffering from digestive upsets. We’d like to send you a 2 month sample for free to find out what you think.

Email me at laurie@bridgeworldwide.com with your mailing address, and we'll send you a free two-month supply of Align – no charges for you at all. The product website is www.aligngi.com if you want to find out more about it first.

We hope to hear from you!

I love these kitchen insights!

Happy Thursday...
ack! I can't believe that it's already Thursday!

I have left-overs. Lyn from Bloggin' Outloud

I'm jealous of number 1 and 5!

I just don't have time to maintain a starter.

By the way, did you get my email? The one copied to Jennifer? Can you reply to me by email or leave a comment on my blog? Thanks!

Just a note to Laurie Greene -- I can't recall mentioning IBS, but if I have, it's because my cat's got it (except in cats, it's called IBD), and there's no way I'm giving a thirteen-year-old cat ANYthing that my vet hasn't approved first.

Thanks, though. Maybe someone in my comment trail here would be interested?

Very cool idea for TT! Daniel and Val's kitchen sounds like a very inviting place. Full of good food and good wine.

Are you the Susan who contacted me last Feb about a book group selection? If so, I JUST got your email this morning . . . long and embarrassing story about that.

Please send me an email at ptaichert@comcast.net -- if I've found you.

Argh.

Man, it's getting interesting around here today.

Yes, Pari, that very well could have been me... let me see...

Oh, and you dessert hounds? I just baked M&M cookies for #2's preschool graduation on Saturday... my freezer is about to explode with all these extras! (although to be fair, I kept the dough and will eat it by the joyful spoonful over the next two days. Assuming I can keep the Tour Manager out of it!)

mmmmm..... honey..... =)

Oh an herb garden! That and tons of chocolate always make for a great kitchen!

Interesting list of things in the kitchen. I am glad you can't see mine.

Happy TT! Thanks for stopping at my blog!

I wish I had all that stuff in my kitchen!!!!!

Happy TT!

That herb garden in the window inspires my imagination. I wish I had a window over my sink. Great post!

excellent on hidden chocolate!

Very interesting. I wish I had such great stuff in my kitchen. I could soooo use a herbal garden.

Happy TT!

Hmmmm sounds very healthy
Although I do have the wines and alcohols and chocolate in my kitchen LOL

Aline

Nice kitchen. I absolutely love food and especially baking. I once worked for a Vegas casino as an assistant to a pastry chef. Chefs can be crazy! :o)~

DUDE, you're thirteen-o-riffic today.

I miss salt and pepper !

Oooh ten kinds of chocolate? Wow. Yum. LOL

#7 is tops with me. I *love* clover honey, especially if it is spun. Reading your list just reminded me that I was hungry. Thanks! I forget to eat when I work.

Can't live without that soy sauce!

Oh my, what was I thinking? I came by yesterday and completely forgot to comment.
Oh well, Happy TT13 AND Happy Friday!

All that chocolate should be in everybodies kitchen. Only problem is that I keep sampling it. Looks as if a lot of other people picked up on that too!!
:)

Chocolate, you say? It sounds familiar... like my mom's kitchen :)

Did you say wine?

Except for # 6 (we don't drink), 12 and 13.

wow, that sounds like a fun kitchen! i don't even know what many of those things are. thanks for stopping by my blog!

Hi. I'm here to say thanks for visiting my blog and my TT.

I suppose once I've read more I'll figure out who Daniel and Val are and what's up with them.
