Thursday Thirteen #31 -- Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, Summertime!

| Thirteen things ShapeShifter loves to do in the summer: 1. Tour. 2. Play those day-long festivals that are popular. 3. Hang out with the other bands playing the day-long festivals. 4. Find someone in charge who can cough up a grill and some dogs, burgers, and bird. (Bodacious Sauce is a plus but not a requirement) And beer. Don't forget the beer. That is a requirement. 5. Jam with the cooler members of the bands playing the day-long festivals. 6. Learn the music of the cooler bands. 7. Wear the t-shirts of the cooler bands during the ShapeShifter set. Pimp the bands from the stage. 8. Storm the stage when said cooler bands are on. 9. Invite them to do the same. 10. When boredom sets in, swap out band members without telling the crowd what's happening. Make like it's normal for Howard the Hammer to play in Bitterness. 11. When crowd starts to expect that, stop doing it. 12. Throw new songs -- written during the above-mentioned jam sessions -- into the concert set. Watch crowd react. 13. Lather, rinse, repeat until fall and time to head into the studio to record a new album. By the way, that's not ShapeShifter in the header picture; please don't confuse my fictional band for a real one! |

Ummm... someone who played the Warp Tour last year, I think. Not sure who, though. But they're cool; they take the stage in shorts.
sounds like a big fun fest to me. the mix and match and jamming times would create awesome memories! And, who doesn't love a summer time bbq?

I think your band should go to Woodstock this summer, maybe you can put together a fictional mind altering concert event.
Is it summer already? Sounds like the shapeshifters have a plan. I definitely need one before the kids are home for summer vacation. LOL!

Ah yes, two things summer must have: good music and good BBQ! Sounds like you're guys have the right idea.
And I like Jenny's suggestion. A fictional version of myself would definitely like to see your fictional band at a fictional summer concert. :-)

I'm so ready for a concert! Last big one I made it to was U2 - outside on a grand house's lawn with friends and wine - yup, I'm ready for some boogieing beneath the stars :-)
I used to love the summer festivals - haven't been in years, though not sure why... just getting too ag-eed I guess.
Ya know, by now I really am curious to hear some songs by Shapeshifter...

"cooler bands"??? It's the cooler of the bands that are there, right? Not bands cooler than ShapeShifter--that's not possible, is it? ;-)
I've been to a few summer concerts but they are always fun :) Summer is here already, yay!

That sounds very musician-like! That's when you know the hard work doesn't feel so hard to them, because they love it so much, they're doing it on their time off.

What fun. I've always wanted to be in an all girl punk band, maybe call it "Rabid Fangirl" or something like that. It ain't going to happen, but maybe...in fiction...

Thant should keep them busy for the summer and if they end up bogged in at festival a by a sudden downpour somewhat longer unless they've reached the private helicopter to and from the gig stage...

Wow..Summer plans! I live in a place where there are only two seasons- Rainy and Sunny. So the only plan I make is to bring an umbrella or not to bring an umbrella.

My favorite thing to do during the summer is wake up and do whatever I feel like. It is a wonderful feeling.

This was a fun one. My brother loves to jam. I loved all the ways to cause confusion among fans. Jenny McB mentioned Woodstock, I missed it, both times, so it would be really cool to get to be a part of it this time.

Heh, fun. For some reason this reminds me of a movie called Sweetwater - about a band called Sweetwater who "opened" Woodstock. I think they were maybe the first band to play, not the first artist though.
It's be cool if you could put some music to your fictional band. You know in Buffy how they have the band Dingoes Ate My Baby? All their songs were actually done by Four Star Mary - maybe you could get a band to be Shapeshifter?

Believe it or not, a lot of it came from Mitchell. That whole obsession with music and all... he didn't think much about it.
