Susan's Book Talk: Multiples and other things

First off: this week's Booking Through Thursday:

Do you have multiple copies of any of your books?
If so, why? Absent-mindedness? You love them that much? First Editions for the shelf, but paperbacks to read?
If not, why not? Not enough space? Not enough money? Too sensible to do something so foolish?

I have a lot of multiples that have come to me through BookCrossing -- I'll forget to take something off my wishlist (with 1200+ books on there, can you blame me?) or someone will think I'll like a book, so they send it to me, not knowing I've got a copy here that I haven't registered at BookCrossing yet.

And I buy multiples, too -- to share via BookCrossing or the book trading sites ('cause whenever I offer you guys my books, you don't take me up on it. What's up with THAT?). Those multiples are books I loved and want to help spread the word about. You know, sort of like my own way of helping people find a Hidden Treasures book.

Speaking of Hidden Treasures, there's only five days left in the contest. Get your last reviews up! If you're web wandering and you find a review posted, why not encourage the writer to submit it to the contest?? They've already done the hard work; invite them to come get rewards and some extra linkie love for it.

I hear that Jennifer Estep, one of our Hidden Treasures authors, has a few ARCs for the second in her Big Time series, Hot Mama. I'll let you know when the review's up at Front Street Reviews.

And lastly (I think), I'd love to thank Robin L. Rotham for pulling my very own name out of a hat and declaring me the winner of a copy of her new short, Seniorella. This is going to be my very first foray into e-books, so if you prefer Microsoft Reader to PDF format, or the other way, you'd better weigh in on that subject now...

Happy reading, everyone! Let's get some last reviews in for the Summer's Hidden Treasures contest, okay?

Comments:
I really should participate in Booking thru Thursday and a place like BookCrossing. Time is my enemy.

I have muliple copies of Outlander. My tattered and shredded first copy, my second copy to re-read and re-read. And, my signed copy that I refuse to touch. Somewhere in a box it is still pristine. LOL!

*blush*

I have two books in the boxes they were mailed in. My office faces North, but lets in a lot of light. Nice to work by, hard on book covers.

If you want to BookCross, let me know. It's not that time-consuming once you're up and running (and have tapped in to fun trading sources with other BookCrossers, so you get journal entries and can follow your books around the world.)

I'm very much still not in the swing of things when it comes to keeping up with blogs (my own and others).

I don't really do e-books, S, so I can weigh in on that... I'd just want to print that sucker out! lol

I used to buy extra "Ishmaels" Now I buy extra Shwartzbein Principle to give away to friends and family. I'm trying to get some new Adelle Davis books cause mine are falling apart, but they are out of print.

I shapeshifted over from Michele's.

Do I have any multiples........?

[thinks]

No, I don't think so....I usually have a clear out regularly and dump old and multiple books.

But I am guilty of re-reading books - I re-read a lot.....

Michele sent me to say hi, Susan.

Trouser snakes are beneath me.

Usually 'cause I chop their heads off when they coil to strike.

Then, they fall to the ground.

And ... they are beneath me.

I do not blame you one bit! If Erotica Dulcinea teaches us anything, it teaches us of the plight and heartbreak of penile servitude.
Thanks for visiting last night though you girls left the place in a terrible state!

1200 books. Whatever will happen if you get them all?

I'm not sure, but I suspect my floor might give out.

That's assuming they all arrive at once, of course.

Incurable biblioholic.

I think a lot of Bookcrossers end up with multiple copies! There we are trying to let our books go and we just end up with more!
