Booking Through Thursday: Enough About Books

Susan rises from the couch (and the food Mitchell fed her at the end of yesterday's Thursday Thirteen) to answer this week's Booking Through Thursday.

WHAT? How can there ever be enough about books?

Yet that is the question asked of us. More specifically, What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time?

Hmm.

Well, clearly, I keep Trevor and the ShapeShifter boys in line. I do this usually by sending them on new adventures, most of which you get to read about right here on this very blog, in the form of fictional outtakes.

When I'm done with that, there are other fictional friends to bring to life.

Yes, writing is leisure. True passions are like this.

So you get me away from things literate and ... I have a family. Two cats. All five of them need me to wrangle them; how else do you think I got so good with the ShapeShifter boys?

Then there are the little things. The scrapbooks. The bikes, one of which I dream of riding 100 miles around Lake Tahoe, although right now, I'd settle for being able to get up this daunting-looking hill near the house. The hours spent at the gym. And oh, yeah, somehow, I became a Girl Scout leader. Don't ask. I can't believe they approved me; didn't they Google me and wind up here?

Yet that's just another notch on my belt of volunteer work. I love to go in and help out at school. I love to get involved with people. I run my book club (but oops, that's books again). I hate to say no... but I do. 'Cause, baby, in Susan's world,

It's all about the books.

I've had a few people try to talk me into becoming a troop leader. It's tempting, because I just love camping, hiking and horseback riding. It's the week-to-week snarky politics of it that would be the death of me.

I'm, uhhh... avoiding the politics, shall we say?

Health problems can be a wonderful thing!

Keeping the Shapeshifter boys and the two cats in line must be a full time job in itself, surely?!

This week's BTT has been really fun. I enjoy reading about what everyone else does with the rest of their free time.

Though, in this case I kinda already knew ;)

You became a Girl Scout leader?

Thank you.

I mean it.

Michele sent me.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Thanks for taking your time for the girls, it can be a hard job, I"m glad there are leaders for daughters like mine.

Digital art, gardening and writing top my hobbies. Happy BTT.

It is nice to read a little about your life, outside of books...Though you didn't share too much..(lol)...Msube that is how you want it to be!
Anyway, Michele sent me today and I am glad she did!

Have a great weekend Susan! :)

Stopping by to say hello.

haha you're so right - what else is there? books, books, books and more books and movies too. i am looking forward to reading some of your outtakes - I do like fiction...now, when and if you're up to it (i know you don't like memoirs), come by and tell me what you think. what you honestly think of one of my "outtakes" - it's the first excerpt from my book that i've posted. wd luv 2 hear from ya. happy wk end.

Those are all wonderful activities, and I bet you're a marvelous troop leader! You strike me as a warm, wonderful person and an excellent role model for young people. :)

I volunteer mostly in music, but some in other random things. My free time usually has something to do with music or writing. So really, I'm pretty much all about that.

I used to do and love taekwondo, until I hurt my foot!

Glad to hear things are going well :-)

As my son was born yesterday, I have to say that I probably don't have anymore free time ... but in the general sense I love to write or meander around the internet, and I like teaching myself new things that I'll lose interest in, like knitting and painting.

Michele sent me!

Glad you have a leisure time, I don't. I read and read and read....
Okay I have been taking the boys to basketball practice and basketball games these past few weeks.
